Gubernatorial Candidates to Speak at Conference Lunch Forum

(Columbus) KnowledgeWorks Foundation announced today that gubernatorial candidates Congressman Ted Strickland and Secretary of State Ken Blackwell will address Investing in Workers conference participants. In order to elevate human capital as an issue in the 2006 gubernatorial contest, the candidates have been invited to present on their ideas on the most effective ways to upgrade the skills of Ohio’s adult workforce in order to build the economy of the future. Congressman Strickland and Secretary of State Blackwell will speak at the 12:00-1:30 pm luncheon plenary session on October 10, 2006.

New Partners Join List of Conference Sponsors

(Columbus) Community Research Partners announced today that two new organizations have signed on as sponsors of the Investing in Workers Conference. The Ohio Association for Career and Technical Education and The Ohio Tuition Trust Authority have joined the impressive list of conference sponsors.

The Ohio Association for Career and Technical Education is a 2,500 member professional organization of career/technical education teachers and administrators. It is the largest state education association dedicated to the advancement of education that prepares youth and adults for jobs and careers. The Ohio Tuition Trust Authority, a state agency, helps Ohio families save for a college education. The Tuition Trust offers and administers Ohio's CollegeAdvantage 529 Savings Plan.

Registration Opens for Investing in Workers Conference

(Columbus) Community Research Partners today mailed over 3,000 registration brochures to representatives of business, government, philanthropic, public policy, economic development, education and training, and human services organizations throughout Ohio in order to attract diverse participation to this important conference. Investing in Workers is expected to attract over 400 participants, and participants are encouraged to register early. Registration information can be accessed from the Event/Hotel Registration tab on the conference website.

The exciting agenda includes over 60 presenters, including state and national leaders in philanthropy, education and training, business, economic development, and public policy. Speakers will frame the compelling issues faced by Ohio employers, workers and public officials, and highlight solutions that are working in states and local communities across the nation.
